Aging Gracefully with Paint.

Addison was upstairs with me as I was getting ready for my "date" with Daddy.  As I took the towel off of my wet hair she gave me a weird look.  I asked Addison what was wrong.  She replied, "nothing Mama" and started looking threw the cabinets in the bathroom.  I then asked her what she was looking for and she said she was looking for some paint.  I told her that her paint was downstairs with her other craft supplies.  She then told me, "not that paint Mama, the paint for your hair.  It isn't brown anymore and so we need to put some more brown paint on it!"  Guess it's time to get my roots done.

Addison didn't want us to go and Lillian didn't want us to come home...I'm Guessing!

On our honeymoon Mike and I decided that for our 5 year anniversary and my 30th birthday we would take a trip.  Earlier this year we decided on San Diego.  We had been excited about this trip for MONTHS!  Planning what beaches, restaurants, hotel, etc. that we wanted to go to.  Then it happened, the one thing every parent dreads.......Addison got SICK!

The Monday before our planned departure Addison started walking kinda funny. You know, that all too familiar pee-pee dance.  I took her to the potty and she was still walking funny.  A few hours later she started complaining that her leg was hurting and shortly after that she couldn't even walk.  That's when I noticed a spot on the back of Addison's leg.  It kind of looked like a bite or zit.  Panicked I called the after hours doctor and he reassured me that everything should be fine till the next day.  Tuesday rolled around and Addison was still barely walking and was in some pretty severe pain.  I called the doc and got an appointment right away.  I took her in and all but confirmed my dreaded thoughts.......it was an staph infection!  This would be # 3 for her.

The doc drained, doctored, and bandaged the spot and gave us some meds.  Then, the other dreaded news came.....The doctor said if the infection got any worse he wanted to put her in the hospital and give her iv antibiotics.  My poor Baby Love was sick!  Of course, I dropped everything (but Lillian), and rocked Addison for the rest of the day.  Later that night as I was bathing her I noticed two other spots.  The bad news just kept rolling in.  I was scared to even go to sleep.  What if her temp spiked and I was asleep???  Little on packing for the trip.  I just knew if I packed I would be jinxing my sweet baby.  Fortunately, Wednesday she woke up with no fever and her infection was not any worse.  The trip was ON!!!

Everything went pretty smooth from there.  We got the kids dropped off at the Grandparents on Wednesday and we caught the plane to San Diego early Thursday morning.  I was SO THANKFUL for both Addison doing ok and for us being able to go on our trip.  Addison and Lillian had a great time at Na Na Camp 2010 and Mike and I had a even better time on our much needed get-away.

Mike and I  flew back into Lubbock Monday afternoon to pick up the girls and the next day we drove back to Dallas.  The drive was pretty uneventful, the kind of drive we like with the girls.  We got home, got everything unloaded and crashed on the couch.  The girls played awhile and then Mike grabbed Lillian to feed her her bottle.  That's when we noticed a HUGE rash all over her head, face, back and tummy.  I rushed her to the bath and doctored her up.  She and Addison have suffered from eczema all their lives so I am used to the break outs but, I do have to say, Na Na had her eczema looking better than I had seen it in months.  It just had never been this bad for Lillian.  After her bath she seemed to be doing a little better and by this morning it is almost gone.  I'm not sure if it was a little eczema flare or maybe a heat rash.  Either way, both girls are doing much better now.  I do have to admit that it did cross my mind last night that Addison didn't want Mike and I to go on our trip and Lillian sure wasn't ready to leave Na Na's.

Addison Has Hair and Daddy Doesn't....

When Mike came home from work tonight Addison ran up to give him a hug.  As Mike picked Addison up he blew her hair out of her face.  She then reached around him to the back of his head and blew.  She said, "Daddy I will blow your hair back too!"  Gotta love her!

I Just Wanted A Shower....

I finally get Lillian down for her daily afternoon nap and decide a shower would be nice.  I lay her down in the pack-n-play and hop in the shower.  Shortly after I hear giggles.  I get out to find this......

A Desitin Kinda Day.....

Let me start out this post by saying it was almost named "Why Mommy Drinks So Much...."  With that being said I will tell you what kinda day I have had.  It started out great, made breakfast for my husband, snuggled with my girls, caught up on my daily news, then did a few daily mom duties.  All in all a pretty good day.  Then Lillian started crying so I took a break to rock and feed her.  I finally get my sweet baby to sleep, I get up to take her to her crib only to hear a strange sound coming out of the closet.  Soon after the all to familiar smell of Desitin hit my nose.  That's right, Addison had snuck the Desitin tube into the closet where she proceeded to cover her "boo boos" on her legs.  I then raise my voice a little too much waking up Lillian.  I had to then give Addison her second bath of the day.  Finally, the mess was cleaned up....So I thought.....I walked back into the room to find Lillian had pooped her pants!  What an afternoon I tell ya!

Sisterly Love....

Lillian's Sweet Hello.

Kissin' Cousins....Well, Kinda....

I don't even know where to start with this one.....Let's just say the performance has begun.  Addison walked into the living room with a pair of her cousin Cole's underwear on that he left here a few weeks ago.  I ask her why she has Cole's underwear on and she says, "Momma, I like wearing Cole's panties....I really miss him!"  That is so cute, weird, and gross all at the same time.

Lillian's Daily Doozy.....

Apparently the doozies run in the family.  This morning as I was feeding Lillian she caught a glimpse of herself in the reflection of the refrigerator.  She would not pay attention to me and eat her breakfast.  So, I tried to get her attention,"Lillian.....HELLO!"  Lillian turned, looked right at me waved and said, "hi!"

I guess this would be a good time to tell everyone that Lillian has said her first word.  It is "Hi!"  Not Mama, not Dada but, "HI".  My little social butterfly......Gotta love her!

The Beginnings....

I've decided to start blogging mainly to share all the crazy things that come out of my daughter's mouth.  This being said, I have found myself waiting all morning for her to "preform".  Guess she isn't feelin' it this morning. Now last night is a different story.  It all started as I was trying to get Addison to bed.  I let her lay in my bed for awhile to watch a few episodes of Spab-Bob (aka- Sponge Bob) and unwind from a long day of torturing her little sister.  I tucked Addison in bed, gave her her water and  a kiss and headed downstairs.  A few minutes later I hear little footsteps...."Addison, get back to bed.  Don't make me come up there."  This goes on for a good half hour before I decided to head upstairs.  As I get to the door I see Addison run into my bathroom as if she was trying to hide from me.  "Addison, get your butt in that bed right now!"  To which she responded, "Momma, do you WANT me to PEE in your bed??"  OK, she won this one...
